Thanks
to all of you who came and helped celebrate our 2nd
Annual Customer Appreciation Day last Saturday. It was
a huge success. The weather turned out perfect and I
think there was a nice mix of beer, wine, and spirits
for everybody’s tastes. I hope everybody enjoyed
themselves and were able to get outside and have a dog
or burger.
Speaking of burgers did anybody else see the guy with
the 1 green tooth who sat outside and scarfed down a
dozen burgers? Not only is he not a regular customer of
Cork’s (nobody had ever seen him before)...he
didn’t speak English…gave you the look of death if you
glanced his way… and he never actually made it in the
store to try any of the samples. Hmmmm…could it have
been a secret plot by Duds’s or Bum Runners to eat all
of our burgers!?! But we were still glad he came for
entertainment purposes.
I
think the hit of the show was a brand new item called
Cabin Fever. It’s a whiskey/bourbon based liqueur that
smells like butterscotch/maple syrup and was just
delicious. The owner of the company is based right out
of Norton and after selling through what we had in stock,
had a bunch more brought in from his home which he
promptly sold out of. We are back in stock and you can
find Cabin Fever on the liquor wall just above the
Southern Comfort.
We
will not have a beer tasting this week as we recover
from last weekend and ride out the dog days of August.
We do have a smattering of Autumn/Oktoberfests beers
that have been tricking in so be sure to seek them out
as they are always outstanding.
We
also have a new upscale lineup of beers from Allagash
that just arrived. Victoria Ale,
Hugh Malone Ale, Victor, Fluxus, and Curieux make up
this interesting 750 ml cork finished collection. These
will be sampled at our 4th Annual Kick-off
beer tasting which is right around the corner
on Saturday, September 13th from 2:30 to 5
PM. We will talk more about that in upcoming
newsletters and you can always check out the website
(corksfinewine.com) for more details. As I write this
newsletter we just received the new 08-08-08 Vertical
Epic Ale from Stone. We have very limited quantities so
we’ll have to limit you to 2 per person.
I’m
still debating whether or not there will be a wine
tasting on Friday night. I have
a
rep penciled in from awhile ago but I’m not sure if he
remembers and I haven’t
been able to get a hold of him. I’m leaning against it
as we have a couple scheduled for Labor Day weekend. So
let’s say no wine tasting
this week unless you really want to twist my arm and
have me open something for you. We are in the process
of picking a date for our next big wine tasting. It will
be in late October or early November and I welcome your
suggestions on a date or times for the event.
Thanks,
Robert
