Cork's Weekly Newsletter

August 2
2007
Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter.

I hope you areall enjoying the great summer weather we have
been having.

The Sox are hanging in, the Pats opened training camp this
week right down the street, and even the Celtics are relevant
once again with the addition of Kevin Garnett. It should be
an exciting fall for our 3 local franchises (sorry Bruins fans).

Speaking of the Redsox this weekend will be the last weekend
to pick up any of the Redsox wines that were pre-ordered.
You should all have received a phone call or e-mail letting
you know that they were in. Starting Monday we will put them
out for general sale and lift any quantity limitations.

Speaking of the Patriots season getting started - don’t forget
to block out the Saturday before the Pats begin their next
Super Bowl season. From 2 to 5 PM we will be having our 3rd
Annual Kickoff Beer tasting. This is one of the 2 huge beer
tastings that we do each year and is always a blast. We will
have a bunch of new beers to sample including all the
Octoberfests which should be in by then. We will also have
our hugely popular raffle which includes the Redsox/Bud Light
fridge that many of you have been lusting over.

This week’s beer tasting for tonight (Thursday 4:30-7:30) is
with Sherwood Forest Brewers. This local brewery just came out
with an IPA that is delicious. It joins the Archer’s Ale and
you can sample both this evening. You may have to wrestle some
of the Dave Mathews groupies for a 6- pack but it will be well
worth it.

Finally this Friday we will have a scaled down version of a
wine tasting. I know most of you are busy and many of you go
away for the weekends so our turnout has been quite sparse the
last few weeks.

We will do just 2 new wines from Australia
this week. 1st up is a great summer blend called Cape
Mentelle Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon. This wine comes from
vineyards just miles from the Indian Ocean in Western Australia.
This delicious wine has flavors of citrus, melon with a nice
minerality all balanced by vibrant acidity. Next is Green
Point Cabernet/Shiraz. A gorgeous "cool climate" wine from
Victoria Australia (south eastern coast), it has flavors of
spice and pepper woven into dark berry and plum fruits all
perfectly balanced.

Tom from Carolina Wines has promised
to pop in for a bit and taste you on these wines if it does
not conflict with his all-u-can eat buffet schedule.
