Well
I’ve taken heat the last couple of weeks for not
mentioning the Redsox or the Patriots. I figured I’d
give
everybody a break from my incessant sports ramblings and
concentrate more on the holiday beers and wines, but by
popular demand here goes. Great move signing Lowell, we
don’t need Santana… keep the kids…isn’t gluttony one of
the 7 deadly zins? The Pats play poorly and still WIN 2
games they should have lost. If they beat Pittsburgh
(look for Don & I in the nosebleed seats) they will run
the table and go undefeated. Celts look like an NBA
finalist and nobody cares about the Bruins…sorry
Wallace.
Tonight (Thursday) from 4:30 to 7:30 we will have our
Christmas beer tasting. Due to the fact that we have
Smuttynose and a Belgian tasting lined up next week and
Magic Hat the week after that tonight we will taste the
crazy X-mas beers from Shelton Brothers out of
Belchertown, MA. The 4pk gift set includes Bad Elf
Winters Ale, Warm Welcome Nut Browned Ale, Santa’s Butt
Winter Porter, and Lump of Coal Dark Holiday Stout make
up this “Rather Curious Collection of Holiday Ales”. We
will finish off with a magnum of Merry Christmas & Happy
New Year from Anchor Brewing Co.
Friday
night’s wine tasting is a collection of interesting
wines and some of my favorites. We will kick things offwith
Sofia Blanc de Blancs from Francis Coppola. Antinori
Santa Cristina Sangiovese will be next. Not for nothing
but back in another lifetime I used to sell a ton of
this wine in the Italian section of RI. Along those
same lines I got an offer I couldn’t refuse on the
Goatfather (a South African Red Blend) and I was told to
take $5 off each bottle if I know what’s good for me.
Last but not least the 2006 Alexander Valley Sin Zin is
in. Bursting with raspberry and strawberry flavors with
a hint of crushed black pepper, this is one of my
favorite wines in the store and makes a great wine to
pair with that Christmas roast beast.

P.S.
Don’t forget we have a huge supply of Holiday lottery
tickets…these make great stocking stuffers
