I’d like to thank all of you who responded with suggestions to last weeks e-mail.  There seems to be a great interest in the wine dinner and I’m currently contacting the restaurants that were suggested.  We will have to wait until after the big wine tasting and Easter so we’re looking at late April or early May.

We’ve been getting in several of the new wines for the Spring Wine Tasting which will be held on Friday night March 23rd from 5 to 8 PM.  We’re looking at between 100 -125 wines from all over the world and 2 weeks before Easter is a great time to stock up for the Holiday.

A few of you took advantage of our e-mail only 20 % off sale on 6 big bottles of beer.  That will end today but we will continue our secret sale with Australian wines this week.  There is a display in the front of the store with 9 Aussie wines on it.  From Black Opal at $7.99 to Kay Brothers Hillside Shiraz at $43.99 you will get 20 % off on any of these new wines.  Pillar Box White and Red are the Australian version of Red Truck and Big House Red and are value priced at $9.99. ($7.99 at 20 % off !!)  Yard Dog is a blend of Petite Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet and this wine does not bite, though it looks like the scary dog on the label does.

Ihave my own wine called Robert’s Shiraz which is made by Small Gully Wines.  OK it’s not really my wine but it is called The Formula Robert’s Shiraz and it was yummy so I had to bring it in. Marquis Phillips Shiraz and Peter Lehman Shiraz are not new to us but are outstanding wines and my “go to” Shiraz so I wanted to include them in the mix.  Jonesy Old Tawny Port rounds out the selection and consistently scores in the 90’s and is a steal at $9.99.  So once again you must mention this e-mail or whisper “no worries mate” to the cashier to get your 20 % discount on these wines from down under.

Well it’s been a few weeks since we’ve had a Thursday night beer tasting.  It’s been tough to get vendor participation since most were at our Super Brew tasting.  So tonight we will do one “in house” and try the Corsendonk Abbey Brown and Pale Ales.  At around 1 o’clock in the afternoon I can tell you nothing about them other that they are Belgian and come in cool bottles.  But I will research them on the internet or make something up between now and then.  Or perhaps one of my beer aficionados can come and educate me.  We will also sample the Sam Adams Triple Bock because I screwed up and ordered a case and we have no more room on the shelf.  So tonight from 4 to 7 stop by and try some brews.  On Friday I have 2 Chardonnay’s I want to try. 1st is a un-oaked Chard from Jewel that we talked about last week.  I think this is a refreshing trend away from the over oaked Chardonnays and makes a great food wine.  The 2nd is a wine that I special ordered for a customer and have heard great things about.  It is Wente Riva Ranch Reserve Chardonnay.  I’m sure I could also be convinced to open up 1 of the Aussie wines from above with minimal arm twisting.  Well I’m off to Ft. Myers to try and track down Manny and see the Dice Man, I hope you all have a nice weekend.

 Robert
