Happy St. Patrick’s from all of us at
Cork’s. There is so much going on here as we prepare
for the busy St. Pat’s weekend and our 3rd
Annual Grand Spring Tasting. The 1st day of
spring is less than a week away and they are calling for
a Nor’Easter and snow, yikes!
Upon further review we have decided to
revise our last e-mail about our discount structure. A
few of you wrote back disappointed that you had to buy 2
cases to get the 20 % discount and that there was no
longer a discount on 6 bottles. What we have decided to
do is have the same 10% discount on 6 bottles and 12
bottles or more will be 15% off. I realize that this is
the same discount as our competitors but I didn’t want
to go from having the best discount structure to the
worst. I feel after 2 years we are on equal ground as
far as selection and price; we have to make this
adjustment moving forward. I think we have the
brightest, cleanest, neatest store in town. I know our
competitors have great selections but I challenge you to
find as many new, exciting, hot wines from all over the
world that we bring in here at Cork’s. The new discount
structure will take effect on April 1st.
The 3rd Annual Grand Spring
tasting which is next Friday, March 23rd from
5 to 8 PM is
rounding into shape. We are currently at 93 wines and
we will be adding a few more by weeks end. This is our
first big wine tasting on a weeknight and I hope all of
our local business people will take the opportunity to
stop by after work. We will have lots of cheese and
crackers, our famous tasting pizza, and lots of goodies
to snack on. We had a fun raffle at our last beer
tasting and will continue that at this one so hold onto
your numbered sheet when you come through the door.
We’ll have a few magnums, gift sets, assorted bottles of
wine, and a few gag items. Once again, I encourage you
to bring your favorite wine glass so you can swirl,
sniff, and taste the wines just like you would at home.
I hope you all have a chance to stop by
and taste some Irish brews with Bill from the South
Shore Brew Club tonight. He had Black & Tans, Heather
Ale, and some crazy seaweed beer last week and it was
lots of fun. Tonight we’re going to taste The Hibernian
Irish Style Red Ale from Harpoon, Murphy’s Stout,
Smithwick’s Irish Ale and the 3 beers from the Historic
Ales from Scotland that we didn’t taste week. The trio
is Ebulum Elderberry Black Ale, Scots Pine Ale, and
Grozet Gooseberry Wheat Ale. These beers are sold
individually or in a 4 pack and as with all our Thursday
night beer tastings (4:30 to 7:30) they are 10% off
tonight. Here’s hoping Bill shows off those sexy legs
and wears the kilt again. And I say what the heck,
bring on the bagpipes!!
My sister Marianne has been doing a great
job getting our website up and running. You canfind
us at
corksfinewine.com.
We’re adding new content daily so be sure to check back
often for updates and specials. You can check out all
the tastings, upcoming events, new items and links to
their web site to learn about the wines. Be sure to
check out
Ted’s
bottom shelf specials
for deals on closeout wines. You can
also have your friends sign up for the newsletter and
check out past e-mails (which have way more humor in
them than this one). I’m going to try something
different this week. If you want to see what the weekly
hidden discount is on you have to go to the website and
find out what it is!
Here’s hoping for not
too much snow and a great St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
