I’d like to start
by thanking all of you who attended our 3rd
Annual Spring Wine Tasting and made it such a huge
success. We were a little worried about our 1st
weeknight big tasting but it was just as crowded as
usual. I hope you all had an opportunity to try
some new and different wines and load up for the
Easter Holiday which is right around the corner.
Just a reminder the case discount will change to 15
% on 12 or more bottles of fine wine on Sunday,
April 1st. So you still have time to
take advantage of the 20 % and stock up that wine
rack.
We will be
sampling a new beer from the Midwest tonight from
4:30 to 7:30. It is from Leinenkugel Brewery out in
Wisconsin. They make 7 everyday brews in addition
to a seasonal beer. Unfortunately only the Sunset
Wheat Beer has made it to the East Coast so far.
Hopefully if it does well they will expand the
distribution and we can try some of the other
flavors. This is a tasting set up through the
vendor so I’m guessing there will be glasses and
t-shirts and other goodies to give out. So stop by
and try one of the best beers to come out of the
Midwest. As with all our Thursday night beer
tastings you will receive a 10 % discount on any of
the beers we taste that night.
We are going to
take a week off from the Friday wine tastings this
week but we’ll back next Friday with an assortment
of wines that pair well with Easter dinner. I’ve
always found that Riesling or Gewurztraminer are the
best ham wines. If you have your heart set on a red
wine, Pinot Noir or Beaujolais Village or light
style reds would be the best pairing. Be sure to
check our website at
www.corksfinewine.com
for more Easter and Passover wines and to
check out this week’s mystery special. Speaking of
Passover Wines we have a small display in the front
of the store and a bunch more Kosher Wines in the 1st
aisle on the right hand side of the store across
from the jug wines.
I want to quickly
mention 2 new wines that just came in yesterday.
First is from our friends at Mionetto and is called
“il Party to-go”. It’s 2 (750 ml) bottles of il
Prosecco in a bright orange tub with a handle. It
has 6 rather cool looking champagne glasses that
come free inside. Just add ice (see Don) and it’s
the perfect package for the beach, picnic, pool,
boat, or for the upcoming concert season at the
Tweeter Center. The next wine was a great buy on a
Vin de Pays that one of our wholesalers had a
boatload of. It is from Fortant and we have 1.5 L
of Merlot and Cabernet. These are decent wines and
will be at the “Ted Bottom Shelf Special” price of
$8.99 for a magnum. It is a very attractive package
and you can find it right in the front of the
store.
I hope you all
have a great weekend and can scoot out an hour or so
early on Monday for opening day. Go Sox!!
Robert
