Welcome to our Memorial Day newsletter!
You
know summer is right around the corner when they’re
forecasting temperatures in the 90’s tomorrow, and the
Tweeter Center has kicked off their concert season. And
even though we lost 2 of 3 the Sox still have a 9 1/2
game lead on the evil empire.
Speaking of the Sox the Redsox wines should be out next
week and we have a huge kickoff/tasting scheduled for
Friday June 8th. We will have lots of
giveaways including State St. Pavilion Redsox tickets to
give away! So keep checking the website
(corksfinewine.com) for all the details.
To
kick off the summer beer season we will be sampling some
of the new summer brews that have hit the shelves in the
last couple of weeks. Blue Moon Honey Moon Summer Ale,
Newport Storm Summer Ale, Harpoon Summer Ale, and
Saranac Pomegranate Wheat will be tonight’s starting
lineup. The tasting will be from 4:30 to 7:30 and as
always you will receive 10 % off on any of the beers we
taste that evening.
Keeping the summer theme going we will have a Rose
tasting on Friday night from 4 to 7 PM. There is a
great cover story in the May 31st issue of
the wine spectator about this often misunderstood style
of wine. I know a lot of you see pink and immediately
think sweet White Zinfandel. For most roses that is
simply not the case.
At
the risk of boring the wine aficionados out there rose
wines are made from red grape varietals (Zinfandel,
Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, and many others) that they
simply remove the skins earlier in the fermentation
process thus creating a pink colored rose wine. Batting
leadoff will be Cristalino Rose Brut, Rose d’ Anjou,
Chateau Ste. Michelle Dry Rose, and forcomparison we
will close with Beringer White Zinfandel.
We
will be closed Monday for Memorial Day so be sure to
stock up this weekend on all your beer and wine. I hope
everybody has a safe and enjoyable Holiday and thanks
for being loyal Cork’s customers. As we talked about in
last weeks e-mail we are in the planning stages of out 1st
annual customer appreciation cookout/beer & wine tasting
event. It will be sometime in July, any ideas or
suggestions?
