1 series down 2 to go.  And for once we don’t have the marathon series and 4 ½ hour games with Yankees.  It should be a great series with Cleveland.  The weekend also has a match up of two undefeated teams as the Pats travel to Dallas to keep their perfect season intact.  And for the college football fans we have # 4 Boston College at Notre Dame as well.

Well we’re hard at work here at Cork’s getting ready for our big fall wine tasting.  I must have “sampled” al least 30 wines yesterday.  Some very good…some not so good…a couple outstanding!  Hey somebody has to do it.  The lineup is taking shape and I should have more details and a partial lineup in the next week.  So be sure to check the website for updates (corksfinewine.com).  Don’t forget to save Friday night October 26th from 5 to 8 on your calendar for our 3rd Annual Grand Fall Wine Tasting.

Can you believe we already have Sam Adams Winter Lager in house?  Unfortunately Sam Oktoberfest, Shipyard Pumpkin and some of my favorite fall beers are no longer available.  So I’ve scoured the inventory and brought in whatever Autumn beers I could find out there.  So tonight from 4:30 to 7:30 we’ll have our friend Wallace sample you on 3 of our new arrivals.  The 1st one is Paulaner Oktoberfest Amber Ale which comes in a cool 5 liter mini keg.  Next is Stoudts Oktoberfest from Pennsylvania.  We’ll finish up with Weihenstephaner Festbier from the world’s oldest brewery.  Now I wasn’t here for last Thursday’s tasting (I was out tasting another 200 wines in Boston…I know tough gig I have here) but I hear if you bring a pint glass or a growler Wallace will fill it for you.

OK to make room for all the new wines we’re bringing for the tasting we need to get rid of some of the old stuff.  Do you know that section in the right hand corner of the store with all the wooden boxes?  You don’t?...well you’re not alone.  Most people don’t even know it’s there or just ignore it, I’m not sure which.  These are all the “off the beaten path” kind of wines without a home/ where wines go to die area.  Having said all that, there are some real gems over there that just haven’t got the exposure they deserve.  So I am picking out 4 of them to taste on Friday night and putting some “closeout” pricing on them.  What are they you may ask?  Well this e-mail is already running way too long so you will have to stop by Friday night between 4 and 7 to find out.

So I hope you all enjoy the Sox series and one of the better sports weekends of the year.  The fall season finally appears to be here so enjoy that as well and I hope you all have a great weekend.

Robert
