Thanks to all who attended the 3rd Annual Kickoff Beer Tasting last Saturday.  I think it was a lot of fun and a great success.  There were so many new and excellent beers to be had.  We even had an upset in the raffle as the Sam fire pit went before the Redsox/Budlight fridge!  The pizza was a little late but once it got here disappeared as quickly as always. I hope you all had a good time and got a chance to expand your beer horizons.

As promised we will start up our regular Thursday night 4:30 to 7:30 beer tastings this week.  I don’t have a supplier lined up this week so we will do a few Pumkin/Oktoberfests that we didn’t sample at the big tasting.  Shipyard Pumkin Ale which could possibly be my favorite fall beer will be one. (It now comes in 12-pks for the first time as well).  We will also do Mendocino Oktoberfest and Erdinger Oktoberfest as well.  Brooklyn Brewery will be here next week to sample you on their lineup which includes an Oktoberfest and Post Road Pumpkin Ale.

I will be doing Fridays wine tasting myself from 4 to 7 PM.  I’m picking a few things that I would like sample myself and think you would like.  1st is Richard Hamilton Slate Quarry Riesling from Australia.  Next is the new 2006 “California” vintage of the Mark West Pinot Noir.  We have always done well with this brand and they made what I think was a big mistake by putting Vin de Pays juice in the same package after they ran out of the California Pinot Noir.  It was totally different and not nearly as good so I didn’t bring it in.  But this is the good stuff and we will sample it Friday night.  Last is a Napa Valley Cabernet called Oberon.  I’ve heard good things about it but have yet to try it so let’s crack that open as well.

Well a few of you noticed the mystery discount on the website last week so we will keep it going.  For thosenew to it we put a type of wine or beer or something on sale each week but don’t advertise it in the store and usually not in the newsletter.  You have to go to mystery discount page of the website (corksfinewine.com) and mention it to the cashier to get the deal that week. This one is a classic so be sure to check it out this and every week. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Robert
