Cork's Fine Wine & Liquors, LLC Newsletter
Mansfield, MA
Hi Everyone,
Well I made it back from
the west coast a little jet-lagged but in one piece. It is
just incredibly gorgeous out there. I strongly recommend
those of you that travel wine country to visit the
Willamette Valley in Oregon. (We're going to
have a
page on our web site soon with information on traveling to
wine country.) The mountains and the water views are simply
breathtaking. The people, the vineyards and the wines are
world class. Plus the Celtics split the games we went to,
and Napa/Sonoma were outstanding as always.
News from Cork’s upon my return is
that we now have the full liquor license in our possession
and are just waiting on some new shelving to start the
transition of the store to make room for spirits. We’re
hoping they arrive by early next week so we can get things
up and running before Easter. So
please bear with us during this renovation.
We are going to have a beer tasting tonight
(Thursday
from 4:30 to 7:30) with Vinnie from Quality Beverage. He
will taste you on the new beers from Hook & Ladder Brewing
Co. This is a really cool project as part of the proceeds
goes to a foundation to help firefighter burn victims. We
will sample the Golden Ale and the Backdraft Brown Ale. And
Vinnie doesn’t know it yet but I’m going to have him crack
open the Widmer Hefeweizen from Portland Oregon as part of
the vacation tour tasting.
We
will continue that theme for our Friday night tasting as
well. We will sample wines from Napa, Sonoma, and the
Willamette Valley from 4 to 7 PM. I will start you off with
Anne Amie Cuvee A
which is a
delicious blended white wine from Oregon.
Next up will be Montinore Pinot Gris. I strongly encourage
all you Pinot Grigio fans to try this wine and see its
color, viscosity, and rich flavors. We will head south to
Sonoma to sample Alexander
Valley Vineyards Merlot and Sebastiani Cabernet and make
very good wines. We will finish with Napa Cellars Zinfandel
which is an excellent
property owned by the Trinchero’s in Napa Valley.
As I’m making the lineup I noticed that I don’t have any of
the Burgundian style Pinot Noirs from the Willamette Valley.
Unfortunate the 2 that I
wanted to bring in are currently out of stock a them at
another time. So to wrap things up, another couple of weeks
and we will have liquor. The Sox start their spring training
schedule today. The memory of the Super Bowl has almost
faded. I have memories and stories of my Oregon adventure.
All is good.
